To help grant recipients, the Ministry of Social Development has released a twelve-month SASSA payment dates calendar. According to this calendar, all recipients will know well in advance when they can withdraw their grants, either through the Post Office or using their SASSA cards at selected retailers. SASSA has also informed recipients that they don’t need to rush to withdraw the money. Once the money is available, it will remain in their accounts until it is withdrawn.
When To Expect the R350 Social Relief of Distressed Grant
The biggest question for many South Africans is when they can expect the R350 SRD grant to return. On Sunday, 25th of July, Cyril Ramaphosa reinstated the R350 SRD grant, which will continue to be administered until March 2023. Recipients of this grant won’t receive the payment on a specific date. Instead, they will receive a notification when their money is available.
Furthermore, the grant is also open to more people this time around.
This means that unemployed caregivers who already receive a grant will also be eligible for the SRD grant. At the moment, Ramaphosa and the Ministry of Social Development are yet to release further details of how you can apply for the grant and the start dates for the grant to be disbursed. However, it seems that the application process will only be available from SASSA offices at the moment.

The following calendar runs from July 2022 to March 2023. All SASSA grant recipients will have their grants available from these dates.
July 2022
In July 2022, the SASSA grant payments will be available from the following dates:
- Older Person’s Grants: Tuesday, 6th of July
- Disability Grants: Wednesday, 7th of July
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 8th of July
August 2021
In August 2022, the SASSA grant payments will be available from the following dates:
- Older Person’s Grants: Tuesday, 3rd August
- Disability Grants: Wednesday, 4th of August
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 5th of August
September 2022
In September 2022, the SASSA grant payments will be available from the following dates:
- Older Person’s Grants: Friday, 3rd September
- Disability Grants: Monday, 6th September
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday, 7th September
October 2022
In October 2022, the SASSA grant payments will be available from the following dates:
- Older Person’s Grants: Tuesday, 5th of October
- Disability Grants: Wednesday, 6th of October
